Chicago Cubs Lineup (7/26/22): Contreras DH, Happ in LF for What Might Be Last Cubs Home Game

Willson Contreras and Ian Happ may be playing their last home game in a Cubs uniform as the team closes out a two-game set with the Pirates before heading to San Francisco and St. Louis ahead of the trade deadline. That’s all that really matters at this point because even winning six in a row won’t suddenly turn the Cubs into buyers who are looking to work out extensions.

Rafael Ortega leads off in center this afternoon, followed by Contreras and then Seiya Suzuki in right and Happ in left. Nico Hoerner is the shortstop, Patrick Wisdom is at third, Yan Gomes is the catcher, and Alfonso Rivas is at first. Christopher Morel rounds out the lineup at second base.

Keegan Thompson is on the mound for the Cubs and Bryse Wilson takes the rock for the visitors in game that starts at 1:20pm CT on Marquee Sports Network and 670 The Score.

If this is truly the last time Happ and Contreras will play for the Cubs at Wrigley, I’d like to thank them both for the last several years and wish them the best in whatever comes next.
