Watch: Javy Baez Conjures Magical Double Play
With a man on first and his team down three runs, Joey Votto laced a Yu Darvish two-seamer back up the middle for a sure single. Well, okay, it had an 88 percent chance of being a hit. But El Mago pulled out his magic glove and made those chances disappear.
Playing short in place of Addison Russell, Javy ranged left and made a sliding stop on the opposite side of the bag before leaping to tag the base with his glove to get the first out. He then sprang to his feet, using the base to provide a springboard for his jump-throw to nab Votto.
Wow. Just…wow.
